This hoodie is one of our most popular options for a custom print. It is budget minded with it’s price, but it doesn’t sacrifice in quality. The other great thing about this hoodie is that it comes in so many colours. The fabric content is 50/50 which means it doesn’t shrink very much. The hood is light weight as it is a single ply, so it fits light and snug on your head. The eyelets where the drawstring are sewn like button holes.
The zipper on this hoodie is covered, so there is the possibility of printing right across the zipper. However this often doesn’t yield very good results with direct screen printing. If you want your image to go across the zipper and to be perfect every time, we suggest applying your image using a heat press over the zipper. We can do this for you. Best Decorating Methods
There are lots of options for custom decorating this Gildan Hoodie. Standard plastisol screen printing is the most popular and yields
goods results. Colours will be bright, but the ink will need to be printed thick. The reason for this is that colour blockers will need to be printed underneath to prevent the dye of the sweatshirt from migrating into the ink over time. This is a common problem with polyester threads. Dye blockers should solve that problem, but do add to the thickness of the print. If you are wanting a very thin print, try a hoodie with a higher cotton count.
Reduced plastisol is also an option, but it will experience some colour bleed. Reduced plastisol does not have colour blockers. Colours will be muted and take on some of the tone of the fabric. This is usually not a problem and can be used as part of the desired result, but there are some things to be aware of and avoid. For example if you choose a red or maroon sweatshirt and print reduced white ink…the result, after dye migration will be pink ink. This can be a shocker! Other colours of sweatshirts yeild more pleasing results when dye migration is expected with reduced inks. For example white ink on black sweatshirt yeilds grey ink. White ink on Navy sweatshirt yields light blue ink. All good results. Yellow ink on a navy hoodie yeilds greeny-brown ink. Maybe okay, but only if you were expecting that.
Embroidery works will on this hoodie with your custom design. Left chest embroidery is the best option, but you can embroider in other places too. Large areas of embroidery on a sweatshirt tend to become wavy after washing, but of all the sweatshirt we sell, this one will yeild the better than average results.
Applique will be a great option for your customization. Stitched on letters or shapes using twill or felt work great on this sweatshirt in any size, small or large.
